About that comment I made above the picture, well it's true! If you're not a seasoned baker this recipe is perfect, because...well.... there's no baking involved! You cannot, I repeat, CANNOT mess this recipe up. It's super easy and only really takes about ten minutes (none the less) to make. I made this bark for the first time last Halloween when a friend of mine sent the recipe to me. I'm not crazy about candy corn (I don't know many who are) but... the combination of all the different flavors together is why any candy corn hater will become a candy corn lover. This bark is sweet, salty, crunchy and chewy. So let's get to it!
Hi there! It's that time again. Whether we'd like to admit it or not the Holiday season is upon us and I couldn't be more over the moon about it. If you were around this same time last year then you know every year I post a blog prior to the Holiday season on how you can help me run the shop smoothly during this ah-mazing and chaotic time of the year! This year I have so many exciting things in store for you all like Holiday inspired recipes for your festivities, new Holiday themed sweet treats and custom dessert toppers in store that you can purchase here. So without further adieu, let's take that sneak peek into what YB Cakes and More Holiday season will consists of!
Not sure if I have mentioned this before, but there's something about the holiday season that makes me go into a baking frenzy! I BAKE and BAKE and BAKE some more. Partly because I feel food brings people together and makes people happy. REALLY REALLY happy! I love nothing more than to bake up sweet traditional holiday delicacies and share it with the closest of kins. Every year since my children were tiny tots, it's been a tradition for me to bake up Jam Thumbprint cookies (which is their favorite and most requested) along with some Gingerbread men and Cherry Shortbread cookies to lay out for Santa on Christmas Eve. Considering Santa is normally Mom or Dad, wouldn't you think they would appreciate more being able to indulge on some fresh homemade cookies that taste just like great grandma makes them after all that holiday shopping stress? Of course!! So here it is! The recipe for Traditional Cherry Shortbread cookies. Enjoy:
My most favorite time of the year is finally here...eek! Something about December makes me
want to indulge in Christmas movies, festivities, seasonal decor, treats, tons of hot chocolate
drinking, flannel blankets, crafts and just plain making wonderful memories with my children( I
could keep going on why I love December, but for your own sake I'll cut it short, lol). One of our all
time favorite Christmas movies is The Polar Express. My kids favorite part of the movie is also the
hot chocolate scene, they will literally get up and dance and sing to the catchy tunes! Because of the
frosty December weather and the excessive hot cocoa drinking (our love for the Polar Express
included) this weeks featured recipe is the best (richest and creamiest) hot chocolate you will ever
have from the Polar Express, so enjoy...
